Emerging Architects Competition | EXHIBITION

The Tycoon’s Last Desire invites emerging architects to design a house in Faqra, Lebanon, through the biography, ambitions and desires of a Brazilian-Lebanese client. Proposals should combine architectural imagination with a credible response to the site, domestic program and building requirements.

8 finalist projects will be selected for a curated exhibition at Abroyan Factory. Their architectural drawings and physical models will be presented alongside the exhibition’s film material.

This competition is reserved for Emerging Architects Aged 30 or Under who do not yet have a well-established practice.

Awards

3 of the eight exhibited projects will receive awards:

First Prize — USD 10,000

Second Prize — USD 5,000

Third Prize — Honorable Mention, with a special distinction within the exhibition.

3 Competition Rounds System

Preliminary Concept Submission (Round 01): Participants submit an initial architectural proposal digitally. Approximately 50% of eligible proposals will advance to the second round.

Developed Architectural Submission (Round 02): Advancing participants develop their proposals in greater architectural, technical and representational detail. 8 projects will be selected for exhibition.

Exhibition Development and Final Awards (Round 03): The 8 finalists prepare their exhibition drawings, visualizations and physical models. The jury selects the 3 award recipients from this group. All 8 finalists remain part of the exhibition, regardless of whether they receive an award.

Physical models are required only from the 8 finalists. The preliminary submission stages do not require a physical model.

Beyond the Exhibition - The Architectural Commission

The 3 awarded architects may be required to undertake further architectural and technical development, as detailed in the competition brief.

The First-Prize proposal may become the basis of a real architectural commission, subject to the client’s approval, technical and regulatory verification, financial feasibility and a separate professional appointment.

Participants retain authorship of their proposals.
